3D Printing

3D Printer Policies

The Millikan Library has a single extruder 3D printer. This means the printer will print the whole item in one color.

Every student may print one small item for FREE. Students may print larger items for a small donation as time allows.

Step One: You must complete this online training:
  • Go to TinkerCAD.
  • Sign up for a new account (please use LAUSD Email for this account), or login with your existing account.
  • See Mrs. Carroll for invitation code.
  • Complete the introductory lessons found here. TinkerCAD has MANY tutorials. After you complete the initial lessons it's a good idea to look at the intermediate and advanced lessons.
Step Two: Play with Tinkercad to create unique designs. Look at Thingiverse for ideas. You will have to create accounts to save your work. Please only use your LAUSD account to set these up.

Step Three: See Mrs. Carroll to sign up for a lesson on using a slicer. In the LMC we use Cura.

Step Four: Create your own original project that will take UNDER 30 MINUTES to print. You will be given assistance to slice and print this item BEFORE SCHOOL based on the sign up sheet in the LMC.

We currently have the following colors available, but know that items may be painted at home: green, blue, red, purple, orange
