YallWest

After the Battle of the Books on March 21, save the date for YALLWest on April 11-12. What is YALLWest? Only the most amazing group of writers who want to talk to YOU! Many events are FREE. Some special events are $5, but come with a $5 voucher for the FOOD TRUCKS. Food trucks AND writers? Could this get any better? Yes! Add in some music, AND it's in beautiful Santa Monica.

The Battle of the Books Rages On

The San Fernando Valley Battle of the Books 2015 will take place on March 21st at Sepulveda Middle School. Three Millikan teams will compete. All are welcome to attend, and adults and older high school students are needed for judges. Please see Mrs. Carroll for more information.

Battle of the books teams: meet in the library every Friday during lunch to prep with your teams! All are welcome to our school battle. It will be during lunch in the LMC on a date in mid-March.

Did you want to join the Battle of the Books but you thought it was too late? Are you a REALLY FAST READER? A couple teams still have a spot or two for a dedicated person. See Mrs. Carroll for more information.

Neal Shusterman is Coming 11/3

Neal Shusterman, author of Unwind, Everlost, Shadow Chronicles, Schwa was Here, and numerous other series and novels, will be at Millikan for a one hour presentation and book signing!

E-books and Audiobooks

Teachers: Use your LAUSD SSO
Students: Login-your LAUSD email address Password-your student ID number

You may listen to or read these books online from any computer with internet access. When using a smart device (phone, tablet, iPad) you should download the appropriate app (you will be prompted to do so) to access your book.

Here Comes the Book Fair



Parents, please click here to sign up to volunteer at the fair. It will only be a success with your help.

Students, you will visit the fair with your English class, but we are also open during lunch.

The book fair is CASH ONLY for students. Parents, we are happy to accept credit cards (no debit cards) with proper identification.

Welcome Back!

I'm looking forward to an exciting new year with you! Stop by to say hello and tell me about your summer, and hopefully what you've read.
When can you start using the library?
We will be open for student use  begin checking out books on Monday, 8/18. You must have a student ID (any year, any school).
What's going on in there?
Interested in Battle of the Books? Our first meeting will be in the LMC during lunch on Wednesday, 8/20. Come on by to learn all about this exciting group.
What should I read?
We have a lot of new books, and hundreds on the way. Try this new smartphone app to get book recommendations or our school library search app to see what we have on the shelves.

Battle of the Books 2014-2015 Reading List

Teams must consist of 4-6 people and may be mixed grade levels.
Each book should be read by at least two people on each team.
The first meeting will be in the library the first week of September.
